Last Saturday I went to the summer festival in my town.
It was my first time going to a Japanese summer festival, so I had been looking forward to it since morning.
A friend lent me a yukata, so I wore one too.
Putting on a yukata by myself was difficult, but my friend’s mother helped me.
At the festival grounds, many stalls were lined up.
We ate yakisoba, scooped goldfish, and had shaved ice, and the time flew by.
For the shaved ice, I chose strawberry flavor.
It was cold and sweet, perfect for a hot day.
I tried the goldfish scooping many times, but I could not catch a single one.
Even so, a little boy who was watching beside me gave me one of his own goldfish, which made me very happy.
At eight in the evening, the fireworks began.
When the big fireworks opened in the sky, everyone said, “Beautiful!”
The fireworks lasted about thirty minutes, and the final one was the biggest and most beautiful.
I wanted to show my family back home, so I took a lot of photos.
On the way home after the festival, my friend and I promised to go again next year.
Japanese summers are hot, but I found that I like them because of the summer festivals.
